Description
Brucella IgM antibodies in serum are indicative of recent or acute infection with Brucella bacteria. Brucella is a genus of bacteria that can cause brucellosis, a zoonotic infectious disease. IgM antibodies are the first antibodies produced by the immune system in response to an infection, typically appearing early in the course of the disease. Detection of IgM antibodies in the serum suggests recent exposure to Brucella and can aid in the diagnosis of brucellosis. It’s an important marker for clinicians to consider when assessing a patient’s health status, especially if they suspect a recent infection with Brucella.
