Description
Anti-thyroglobulin antibodies (anti-TG) are antibodies that target thyroglobulin, a protein produced by the thyroid gland. Thyroglobulin is involved in the production of thyroid hormones. Anti-TG antibodies are often measured alongside other thyroid-related tests to help diagnose autoimmune thyroid disorders such as Hashimoto’s thyroiditis and Graves’ disease. Elevated levels of anti-TG antibodies can indicate autoimmune thyroid disease, although they can also be present in other conditions.
